David Boreanaz Lines Up New Project as ‘Bones’ Ends

With the end of "Bones"[1] so near, fans are still in the "denial" and "depression" stages of grief, but star David Boreanaz[2] may have reached "acceptance."

The actor is looking ahead to his next role; Boreanaz has joined a CBS Navy SEAL drama pilot, taking the place of its lead, Jim Caviezel, according to Deadline. The other man reportedly left over creative differences.

The story, which comes from writer Ben Cavell, follows a group of elite Navy SEALS taking on dangerous missions. Boreanaz is set to play their leader, Jason, a man whose dozen-plus deployments have apparently had more than just a physical impact on him. The cast of the Chris Chulack-directed pilot also includes Max Theriot, Neil Brown Jr., A.J. Buckley, Toni Trucks, and Jessica Pare.

Boreanaz is no stranger to playing a military man. His "Bones" character, FBI Agent Seeley Booth, was an Army Ranger who served in the Middle East. Seeing Boreanaz in his new role may be the comfort "Bones" fans need once the long-running series is off the air.

The actor comes to the project with an impressive track record. Not only has "Bones" been on Fox for 12 season, his previous series, The WB's "Angel," ran for five. He might be just what this pilot needs.

Let's hope it gets picked up. The series could fill the "Bones"-sized hole soon to be in our hearts.
